Haha amazingLife’s Little Victory of the Day: Sainsbury’s announced today that it was bowing to social network pressure, and renaming its tiger bread “giraffe bread” per Lily Robinson’s suggestion.
The three-year-old wrote the supermarket chain last year to ask why tiger bread is called tiger bread, suggesting it be renamed “giraffe bread” to better match its appearance.
Customer service manager Chris King wrote Lily back to explain that the bread was named by a baker long ago who “thought it looked stripey like a tiger.” However, King sided with Lily, calling her renaming idea “brilliant.”
After thousands of social network users hopped aboard the Giraffe Bread Express, the company caved and decided to move forward with the name change.
“In response to overwhelming customer feedback that our tiger bread has more resemblance to a giraffe, from today we will be changing our tiger bread to giraffe bread and seeing how that goes,” said Sainsbury’s in a statement.
Congrats everybody. We did it.

One good reason to be a Sainsbury’s employee. I noticed the change before I saw this post and knew it was because of little Lily!

SO BEAUTIFUL
The night before the burial of her husband 2nd Lt. James Cathey of the United States Marine Corps, killed in Iraq, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of “Cat”, and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept.
“I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it” she said.
“I think that’s what he would have wanted”.
-Not sure what is more honorable: Being married to this faithful wife to the end or the Marine standing next to the casket watching over them both.

I’m Eatin’ Too Much Of It of the Day: 17-year-old Stacey Irvine of Castle Vale, Birmingham, has admitted to eating practically nothing besides chicken nuggets since she was two.
Irvine was recently rushed to the hospital after collapsing at work. Doctors there told her she had anemia and made it clear that she was going to die if she didn’t immediately add fruits and vegetables to her diet. “I am starting to realise this is really bad for me,” Irvine acknowledged.
Still, she says she can’t stop eating nuggets on a daily basis. “McDonald’s chicken nuggets are my favourite. I share 20 with my boyfriend with chips,” she is quoted as saying. “But I also like KFC and supermarket brands. My main meal is always chicken nuggets every day.”
According to Irvine, her mother Evonne, who introduced her to McNuggets when she was two, has long since given up trying to get her to eat anything else. “I’m at my wit’s end,” says Evonne, a 39-year-old beauty therapist. “I’m praying she can be helped before it’s too late.”
You only start to realise this is bad for you at 17? This is one of the reasons people look down on “Brummies”, me included when I tell them I’m from near Birmingham.
Fan Art of the Day: ”Fashion Princesses” by budding Ukrainian artist Victoria “Viria” Ridzel provides Disney’s princesses (and Anastasia) with a long-overdue makeover.
